Wedding Flower Trends 2020
Our wedding florists have had an amazing 2019, working with happy couples in Southampton and throughout Hampshire. We take a look at 2020 and our wedding flower predictions of what we think will be huge trends for 2020 weddings. It was a tough choice, but here are our top 5 wedding trends for the year to come!
Botanicals and Greens
One of our favourite trends emerging from 2019 was the botanical bouquets, which showcased the green beauty of the flower world. From loose bouquets with a wild mix of country flowers and natural grass to structured bouquets with exotic succulents, you will be spoilt for choice!
For a natural botanical inspired wedding flowers we love using eucalyptus - which has beautiful green silvery leaves and light scent – combined with neutral toned roses, hypericum berries and delicate white wax flowers. The crisp white petals set against the lush foliage creates a sophisticated yet relaxed wedding vibe.
This look works particularly well for wedding barns, bell tents and outdoor venues. Our flower team create green garlands, lush archways with twinkling lights and flowing table displays to transform your wedding venue into a botanical garden.
Flower Power Pets
Weddings are about celebrating forever love with those nearest and dearest to you. And 2020 will see the growing trend of involving all the family … including your beloved pet!
Having your treasured four-legged friend as official ring bearer is special, so why not have some wedding flowers for them? We can design an animal friendly flower collar, floral crown or lead decoration so your pooch looks a million dollars for their starring role in your wedding.
Unusual and exotic wedding flowers
Our happy couples are asking now for unusual wedding flowers and colour combinations. The world is your oyster with wedding flowers, so you can pick blooms unique for you; birds of paradise, blue eryngium, proteas, vanda orchids and craspedia are some of our favourite for creating bespoke wedding flowers.
During the wedding consultation with our The Flower Shop Southampton team, our florists take the time to get to know each happy couple. We want to discover the Bride and Groom’s personalities, wedding dreams, venue and theme so we can suggest seasonal flowers and colours that will work perfectly for their wedding.
Pop of Colour
2019 was all about the blush pink and pale lilacs, 2020 is about hot pinks and fuchsia tones. Strong flower colours look magnificent for weddings all year round – they really add a statement pop of colour. The bright petals stand out against the brides dress, add a dazzle of colour for the grooms buttonhole, and create jaw-droppingly gorgeous venue displays and table centres.
We loved this gorgeous bridal bouquet we made for a recent wedding in Southampton. Using magneta roses, oriana calla lilies, yellow roses with orange tips and greenery – a stylish and colourful mix, that worked perfectly for the summer wedding setting.
Petite Bouquets
The past few years big, loose bouquets have been really popular with brides. However 2020 we predict our brides will be asking for more dainty, petite bouquets – think of Meghan Markle’s small but perfectly formed bridal bouquet.
This trend has lots of flexibility, and doesn’t mean boring at all! You can choose a stunning single stem or collection of tiny wildflowers, and we can still creatively achieve texture, colour and style for your bridal bouquet.
